Elsewedy Electric Algeria exports $ 20 million worth of power cables from Algeria in January 2018

Elsewedy Electric Algeria, a subsidiary of the Elsewedy Electric Group and leader of the Middle East in the electricity industry, today announces its first export operation in 2018 from Algeria.

Elsewedy Electric Algeria will export more than 1500 tons of electrical cables in line with international standards to Italy, Qatar and Egypt, for a total of 20 million US dollars.

“We are very pleased to contribute positively to the growth of national non-hydrocarbon exports and the reduction of the import bill for electric cables.

We look forward to continuing this effort with new export operations, made possible by our Algerian plant, located in Ain Defla, “said Elsewedy Electric Algeria Deputy General Manager, Mr. Riad FELLOUH.

The installation of the Elsewedy Electric Algeria plant in 2008 in the Ain Defla region, for a $ 150 million investment, has enabled Algeria to reduce its imports of industrial wiring by 35%.

The plant also strengthened domestic exports by placing its Made in Algeria products in many markets, such as Equatorial Guinea, Egypt, Chile, Qatar, Tunisia, Italy, Jordan Saudi Arabia, Spain and Bahrain.

Elsewedy Electric Algeria is a mix between international expertise (+ 75 years of know-how in the electrical industry) and an Algerian workforce (+600 direct employees, and +1000 indirect employees).

The company wants to register in its local environment and allow all its employees to access a greater specialization in the technical field.

As a reminder, the giant electrification offers integrated energy solutions: cables and accessories, energy transformers, generation, transmission and distribution of energy.

With a production capacity of 30,000 tons of electric cables per year, the plant has opted to strengthen its capacity and will open in March 2018 a third production unit, specialized in the manufacture of cable accessories with a production capacity. 30,000 units a year.
