More than 140,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable have been deployed in Algeria as part of the national strategy to connect all wilayas to the telephone and broadband internet network, said Monday the chairman of Algeria Telecom (AT), Adel Khemane.
“Algeria Telecom’s network is made up of several parts, including the fiber optic backbone, which currently stands at more than 140,000 km, accounting for all of the transmission links made and operated by Algérie Télécom (approximately 93,000 km, of which 14,000 km since January 2018), “said Khemane in an interview with the APS.
He recalled, in this sense, the commissioning, on November 14, of the Adrar-Tindouf fiber optic link, an operation, he said, which will “increase the broadband capacity of the Internet for the benefit of the citizens and to contribute to the improvement of the telephony services in the region “.
